Hoop Dancing and Fry Bread for the First Time!

This past weekend the 26th Annual World Championship Hoop Dancing Contest at the Heard Museum in Phoenix was happening. This was my first time attending and it was an amazing experience, I even tired my first fry bread and it was delicious.

Let me tell you about hoop dancing first, which is a tradition in many Native cultures. Through hoop dancing tribal and individual stories are told by using hoops to create symbols and animals that have great meaning. The continuous circle symbolizes the circle of life and the constant change of the seasons.

This was a two day experience but I only went on Saturday. There were many contestants around the U.S and Canada, all were dressed in traditional Native attire with bright colors.

I also went inside the museum and explored around and saw many beautiful artifacts from different Native cultures mostly from around Arizona.
